I am former military USN, A-6E Naval Flight Officer, so, I have had my share of emergencies. I was looking through my checklists and emergency procedures for my Piper Cherokee and thought about procedures to follow after landing off field.

What are the procedures to follow after landing off field (for example in a farmers field) and you have no injuries. I would think contact the last ATC, also the farmer and 911, my insurance company, my family.

My question is if someone has any real world insight into what procedures need to occur after landing or crashing (with no major injuries) off field? Who did you call? Is there a checklist of procedures that exists for this type of situation? If not, what would you have/put in a checklist for this situation (for example insurance phone number, specific FAA and NTSB phone numbers…)?

Thank you.
