The crank was pulled from an 0-200 Continentail engine. The connecting rod journal and the main bearing journal had damage. Does anyone know what could have caused this? The crank had to be scrapped.....

A engine overhaul facility said it might have been an air bubble when the crank was made? The Total time in service was 4000 hours and the engine was on it's second overhaul....after 50 years!

Thanks
