My airport now has Swift UL94 Avgas. It's 10 cents per gallon higher than 100LL but promises better longer oil change intervals, cleaner-burning spark plugs, etc.

The POH for my Aztec says I can use 91-94 octane aviation fuel. My first thought was that I could use the Swift. However, when I went to the Swift webpage it shows an STC for $1,500.

If you are using Swift fuel, can you tell me if the promises are true?

Anyone using the fuel in a low compression IO540 like my Aztec's?

Why would Swift expect someone to pay for an STC. It would seem to me the profit comes from converting a customer to your fuel. The STC price would seem like a barrier keeping people from trying it.
