Does anyone know if the repair scheme described in service letter 616 to eliminate cracking of the webs around the 0.191" hole in the main landing gear trunnion assemblies actually works? The SL suggests opening up the hole to 0.5" and extending it out to the edge of the web and monitoring every 100 hours for cracks. A new hole 0.191" is drilled in another part of the web to clip the brake pipe to. Sounds too good tobe true but is a lot simpler and cheaper than changing the MLG Trunnion Assembly. Be grateful if anyone has any experience of this fault on early Arrows.
