Inspecting the filter is as important as the differential compression check. A low cylinder usually can be fixed but metal in the filter …….not good….So it is important to do!….I have to say I always worry a little that something bad can be lurking in the filter. Fortunately this engine is just fine and will be flying again soon!
The filter securely mounted in vise……
The filter cutter mounted and ready to go!
The filter nice cut open and element ready for inspection. Owners get nervous when present for this part of the inspection!
Don’t for get to remove this or it will cause havoc on the saw blade!
Cut slowly and evenly to remove the element intact!
Layout the element for inspection. Remember it is the part I facing in on the filter
A nice clean element absolutely no metal anywhere …….a happy owner!
Throw it all away……
