After cleaning up my top door latch and discovering that a previous person had installed the latch spring upside-down, I thought about whether I should lubricate the latch at all. My instinct is NOT to apply lubrication as it is not accessible and lubricants could gum it up. Anyone have an authoritative opinion on this?
