I need some advice. I have a '69 Arrow with a180 hp IO-360-B1E. When I fly in freezing temps, my oil temp is very low - still in the green - but low, approx. 90 degrees F. Id love to see it at 180 deg F to make sure that any moisture is removed from the system.
In the Winter months, I install a block which stops all air from flowing through the oil cooler. When it is in place, oil temps are right at 180 deg F, even in very cold temps. The winter block is easy to install but it's a pain because it requires top cowling removal.
I wish there was a cockpit controllable device that would vary the air flow to the oil cooler so as to give the pilot the ability to manage oil temp in flight.
Do you have the same issue??
