Hi all. I finally managed to get two locking Fuel caps which would fit my PA28-181 (Archer 2).
I noticed on my non-locking caps there is an integral orange rubber valve which I believe is a vent valve. Also on one Archer 3 at the the local Aero Club, I noticed a vent on the newer type recessed caps which looks like a small hole in the cap.
These Piper locking caps don't seem to have a vent. My Aircraft has the typical vent tube which sticks out into the bottom of the wing so the question is. Is it safe to use the caps? My understanding is that these were an option for PA28's but if there is a vent pipe on the aircraft, why do some caps have a vent hole/vent valve?
