On my return flight home yesterday in my 76 Arrow II, I noticed my gear in transit light came on. This happens occasionally but the amps are normal and I cannot feel any difference like the gear is partially extended. This was the case until I descended for landing. I noticed that the amps meter was reading about 65 amps. Normally it is around 25-30 during cruise flight. It was time to extend the gear so I watched the meter during extension and it did not go back down as I expected. I cycled the alternator switch and it came right back up to 65 amps. Once on the runway the amps returned to normal immediately after touching down.

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the gear pump but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this behavior. I plan on putting the plane up on jacks, retracting the gear and checking for leak-down / pump cycles.

Any other ideas on where to look?
