Has anyone ever flipped (sold, not crashed) a plane?

I had an opportunity to pick up a couple airplanes pretty affordably in a distress/trade-in type situation. I have an A&P IA that I trust to verify them mechanically and I'm getting pretty decent at understanding values. In other words, I won't do it unless it's a money maker. I'm interested in the logistics though. Both are out of annual but only by a few months...

1. They are not on the field but reasonably local.
2. What is normally done regarding sales tax?
3. Temporary insurance to demo them? Is this a thing?

I checked with the FAA, they can let you be a "dealer" very easily. It's like $10 plus $2 per plane to get a temporary registration.

Thoughts greatly appreciated!
