I know two G5's are a very popular panel upgrade, but did anyone consider G5's and instead go for a full PFD like the G3X (with a G5 as the backup AI)?

A GFC 500 is a given for either of these options. A 430W is in the panel and will be upgraded in coming years, but it stays for now.

The G3X gives the ability to split the screen and put a map or plate on the PFD. And it would give incentive (albeit at a cost) to integrate the engine monitor. (The current JPI engine monitor does not give enough data for Savvy analysis, which we would like.)

The G5's are simply less expensive, but they do give a partial glass panel and let us get rid of the vacuum system. Although an iPad will still needed for the a usable moving map (the 430W is limited) and plates.

Has anyone else debated these options, and what did you end up doing?

I have also heard some concern that a G3X might not fit in all Archers, but believe it has been done.

Panel pics are appreciated!

Thanks.
