I strongly encourage every pilot on this forum to get an FAA Remote Pilot License. It's a great and easy way to get a new certificate. Plus, you get a chance to learn about and hopefully participate in a new form of aviation.
Pilots just need to complete a short online training course titled "Part 107 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) ALC-451" available on the FAA FAASTeam website:
https://www.faasafety.gov/gslac/ALC/CourseLanding.aspx?cID=451
Then, apply for the rating via https://iacra.faa.gov/. Any CFI can then sign you off in the system and your certificate will arrive in the mail. Note: you need to have a current BFR.
