I'd like to clean, strip, prime & paint the area in front of the firewall while my engine is out for an overhaul. I was thinking of just stripping everything & leaving it plain; however, the A&P IA told me that it would be better to prime (epoxy primer) and paint everything in order to protect it from corrosion. I fly in coastal New England, and there are times when I can't fly & the plane sits in its hangar (weather; pandemic).

I'd appreciate recommendations! Thank you.
