Hi all you wonderful people. I have decided to get my 3 bladed Hartzell prop dynamically balanced in an effort to remove some of the vibrations in the plane. I can make the vibration worse by adjusting the RPM lower but can't make it go away and I figure vibration throughout the plane long-term can never be a good thing.

My question is, and it comes from the Hope Aero who is doing the test.....can the plane be safely run at high RPM with the top cowling removed? Would both cowlings being removed be better? I have no idea why they are asking me this but I would like everyone's thoughts and experiences. My mechanic doesn't like to run the plane with the cowling's off as a general rule and unfortunately, he is away right now so I haven't been able to discuss it with him.

The plane is a 1966 Cherokee 6-300.

Thanks everyone!
Kyle
