Does landing gear hydraulic system need to be bled like the brake system?

I recently had the NLG hydraulic actuator rebuilt as it was leaking and I had hoped that it would fix my GIT light issue (no joy). The AP said that the system is self breeding but I am not sure. Anyway evidence of a leak is gone but the GIT light comes back on after 15 minutes of flight. Just when I thought that I had the damn thing fixed.
