I'm buying my first plane (partnership with my dad) and could use any help you have to offer. It's a '79 PA28-181 Archer II. We are having trouble finding an available hangar. Any recomendations for keeping it tied down while we keep begging and waiting for a slot to open up? I see lots of advertisements for covers, and I think we'll get one but I don't want to scratch the windows. Are the interior window shades better? What about rain and water intrusions, what should I look for?
Another question is the sale and registration. I have looked and it appears the FAA registration sheet is pretty simple, and only like 5-10 bucks. Is this correct? We are in Texas so there will be the usual sales tax, is there anything else I'm missing?
Please let me know your thoughts, the plane is from a good friend of the family and very well take care of, all the logs are in order and complete. The basic question of "is this a good buy" is a simple and well understood "yes", but the little details of how to complete the sale and ensure all the t's are crossed and the i's are dotted is what I could use some help with.
Thanks,
David
