A random question for other Canadians out there about our journey logs...

My current journey log is about 3/4 full, but it's in rough shape and is literally falling apart. What do the CARs say about starting a new journey log? Can I start a new one, and just transfer over appropriate entries, or is it written somewhere that the book needs to be completed before I start a new one?

Start a new one but keep the old one in a safe place. Your mechanic can guide you and provide all needed signature etc.

There is nothing regulatory about the shape or format of the logbook itself, it could even be electronic, it is the information and certifications that count.

When I near filled up my journey logbook, I de-spined it, 3-hole punched the pages, and put it into a nicely done up three ring binder, all with the approval of my AME.

I also created a doubled sided page formatted much the same as the original pages, but with a few improvements, and just print off blanks as needed to add to the binder, continuing with the sequential page numbers. To debulk it, I removed the older pages and archived (and scanned) for safe storage, and added an appropriate note to the journey log to that effect.
