I have an Archer II and the autopilot is an Autocontrol IIIB . It works great when it works and when in IFR conditions really gets frustrating when its starts hunting left and right/ left and right. It starts slow and then gets crazy. I had a service center look at it and they took the servos out and cleaned them and reinstalled them. It worked good for a while and now we are back to the left and right hunting. Flew into St Louis from Memphis and had no problems. I left St Louis and flew to Murfreesboro and had to hand fly all the way. Left another day from Murfreesboro and flew back to memphis and it worked badly the first half of the trip and then smoothed out. Someone has to have the right answer to this little problem and I hope its not a new autopilot or servos. I can only dream of altitude hold!
