My annual inspection involved another repair to the cowling of my 1966 Cherokee 140. Last year my A&P repaired my nose bowl and I’m pleased to say it looks great. Unfortunately, my cowling has numerous cracks and doublers and more will be necessary in the future. Rather than repair, we are considering constructing a new top and bottom cowl assembly and using this one as a template. I am curious to hear if others have done undertaken a similar effort and what they learned. The work would be done by an A&P/IA who primarily works on restorations and has a great deal of skill and experience in fabrication, welding, and other aspects of rebuilding. Any advice or considerations from the group?
