The next Cherokees to Oshkosh (CtO) Mini-Clinic (to qualify to participate in the Mass Arrival to OSH) is this weekend April 1-3 at KMCC in Sacramento, CA. This is the first of two new West Coast Clinics. The other is in late June at S33, Madras, OR.

CtO clinics are open to all Piper PA28, PA32, PA34, and PA24 aircraft.

Arriving with a Mass Arrival group is THE BEST way to go to OSH. Groups have hospitality tents, camp together and you can learn a lot about your aircraft from pilots with similar planes. The social aspect makes OSH that much more fun. Though not mandatory, many CtO participants gather multiple times throughout the year to fly together. As one of our past participants said, “flying is fun, but flying together is more fun.”

A quick reminder, the early bird registration to fly the Cherokees to Oshkosh Mass Arrival ends tomorrow, March 31. Prices go up $25 on April 1 (not an April Fools joke). This is an all-volunteer group. Registration fees cover the cost of shirts, ground transportation, some meals at our staging airport, CWA, Central Wisconsin Airport, an awards dinner Friday night prior to our departure, and the arrival dinner Saturday night at OSH.

There are 8 clinics left (2 down) including this weekend’s clinic in Sacramento. Unlike the other mass arrival type groups, there are no charges for CtO clinics, though you may be asked to chip in to cover the cost of lunches and snacks. Clinic hosts have reserved blocks of rooms, and some are only being held to specific dates. Details are on the Cherokees to Oshkosh website on the Schedule page. As the host of the final clinic at GDW in Gladwin, MI, I know that the rooms are being held until April 1. There are other motels near all the clinics, if you can’t get a room, use the contact form on the website to connect with the host of the clinic you will attend (pop-up menu on the form). The host should be able to connect you with lodging. Many hosts also arrange for ground transportation at the clinics.
