Cherokee Trim Stiffness fix?

I recently purchased a Cherokee and flew it yesterday for the first time in super cold weather (-13C). Trimming the airplane was a workout to say the least. Does anybody else experience this? The trim wheel is very stiff to begin with but yesterday was just impractical. You really have to turn your attention to the trim wheel. Is there a better lube for the pulleys or something else I could do to improve this?
