Well, it's that time again and this time I decided to use a new young Instructor rather than the guy I have always used. The young CFII has a reputation as a hard ass and I am thinking I need a hard ass to look at me to see if I am getting lazy or complacient and challenge me. We talked on the phone and he was asking hard questions and that is when I hired him. I am current IFR but also asked for an IPC. I told him I wanted him to challenge my decision making, my pre flight routine, my weather knowledge and of course my flight management.

My last couple,of BFR's have been routine and predictable and I wanted to get something out of this time and money.

I will report back on this decision.
