Hi folks
Was flying IFR in low to moderate rain just above freezing level last week. After 30 minutes got a decrease (about 20 KT) in indicated air speed and then fluctuating airspeed. Pitot heat was ON all the flight. A wind sheer on approach made it a bit tricky without thrusty airspeed but landed safely with known power settings.
I thought the Pitot line could have a leak but my Mecanics found a lot of water inside and partially clogged Pitot line. How comes water could enter the Pitot line on a certified IFR plane???! My mechanics didn’t figure why...
Your thoughts?
Thanks
