I have a pa-32-260, 76’ model. I want to install a g5, as primary AI, but I have a century 2000 autopilot that gets it’s attitude from the AI. If I understand correctly, I can not get attitude from g5 to the century,(unless something has changed since I last talked to the avionics shop). I also have an HSI, that’s coupled to it. It all works great an I’m satisfied with it, And of coarse both work off the vacuum pump. The plane has a back up electric vacuum pump on it also. I have a full panel, and no where to move the Ai, (unless I go to the passenger side). I do fly IFR some, and I wanted an electric back up AI. Can I replace the turn coordinator, with a g5 as primary, can I go that route to get me a back up AI, or hsi, if one of those fail individually? Or any other suggestions that’s “reasonably” priced with out breaking the bank that I may be missing?
