Hello Everyone,
This has been an ongoing issue for a few months now, and despite his efforts, my mechanic has not been able to replicate it in the shop. I'm hoping you guys can help explain what might be going on.
When I cycle the gear down in my Arrow in flight, the yellow transition light on top of the dash illuminates, and I can feel them come down and pop/slam-home into the down position. I typically try to be at 120-130 MPH IAS when I cycle down. Originally, once the pump stopped, the transition light extinguished, and I felt the thud of the gear being down, I'd be rewarded with 3 green lights. But now I still hear the pump stop, the light goes out, and the usual thud, but the nose gear light stays unlit for a period of ~10seconds. 10 very concerned seconds. And then, the light will mysteriously come on and stay on.
This happens on every flight, and the "off-but-should-be-on period" is always about the same ~10 seconds.
I've had the mechanic check the Down Lock Switch, to which he says it's fine and he's not seeing any troubles when he's swung my gear.
I myself have seen this same behavior when I momentarily flipped the master on in the hangar one day to check something unrelated.
Can anyone take a stab at what this might be? And what I could have my mechanic check for? It's pretty scary to see a gear light not illuminating!
Thanks!
