I read an article with that title. It basically concluded that this was just to general a rule to be safe. While I agree that we all should be able to calculate our take off requirements based on the conditions that day, there are always variables. If, for some reason, your not making the expected power or speed, and you have already used half your runway, it’s time to shut down and investigate. What is wrong with that? IMO, that would be the farthest point for that decision. I ignored this rule one time on a wet grass runway and I finally broke ground with less than 50’ to spare. I swore I would never do that again. I haven’t. What do you guys think?
