Hello -
I searched for this but didn't see it here.
I swore I saw somewhere in the POH a note saying the max allowed (or perhaps recommended) fuel imbalance is 10 gal. Can’t find it now. Can someone point me to the section where this is (presuming I'm not confusing a different document or POH for a different aircraft)?
I did find the following in the normal operations section:
“In order to keep the airplane in best lateral trim during cruising flight the fuel should be used alternatively from each tank. It is recommended that one tank be used for one hour after takeoff, then the other tank be used for two hours: then returned to the first tank, which will have approximately one and one half hour of fuel remaining if the tanks were full at takeoff. The second tank will contain approximately one half hour of fuel.”
Doing this will approximately maintain the max imbalance to more or less 10 gallons. With a fuel totalizer on board, this will be easier to do more precisely, but the clock still is an important tool.
