I have a Control Vision Anywhere Map Duo aviation GPS tablet PC currently on sale at eBay until 12/1/2010 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=300497092081). The unit has been gently used, and is for sale because I'm now flying a plane with a built-in GPS. This is a great aviation GPS, and the tablet PC is icing on the cake!

It comes with the following:
  • Anywhere Map PRO (sectional charts)
    Pocket Plates 3 (approach plates)
Street Atlas USA 2010 (for navigating on the ground)
UltraTAWS expansion pack (increases map & plate resolution)
    AC power adapter/charger
    12v/24v power adapter/charger
    USB cable
    airplane yoke mount

The hardware consists of a fully functional, 7" touch-screen tablet PC running Windows 7 Home Premium, with an internal GPS . The screen has a Screen Armor protective cover on it to protect it from scratches & reduce glare. Specs on the tablet PC:
  • Intel Atom Z520 (1.33 GHz) processor, 533MHz FSB, 512KB L2 cache
    7" WSVGA 1024x600 touch screen
    1GB RAM
    32GB solid-state disk
    8.27" x 4.61" x 0.89", 1.46 pounds
    Sirf Star III GPS, WAAS-enabled
built in 1.3 megapixel camera for video conferencing
    802.11b/g wireless LAN
    Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
USB port, headphone jack, multi-I/O port
    integrated sound card, built-in speakers
    SDHC card reader
    lithium-ion battery

You'll need to purchase the map subscription ($115/year, or $395 lifetime) to obtain current maps because the existing maps will expire in December (but can still be used until a subscription is purchased). Much more economical than the Garmin GPS products that can cost over $800/year for comparable information.

The Anywhere Advantage™:
Anywhere Map tablet systems include Pocket Plates 3.0 and can be upgraded to XM Weather. Power plus ease of use equals value. Like all handheld systems, Anywhere Map is not tested or approved by the FAA or any governmental agency and should not be used as a primary flight instrument. However, by bringing together information available from sources, it can increase your awareness of the "big picture." The FAA calls this "situational awareness," but you will call it confidence and stress reduction. Anywhere Map integrates position, airspace, terrain, obstacles, and even weather information down into one easy to read display.
