Anyone had problems with new tach cable thumping or clicking sound ?- Seneca II left engine

This is very annoying, and I don't want to fly this aircraft with this new cable making noise. Mechanic says its because the way it has to bend almost 90 degrees.
Well, I don't want to upset him, but this cable never made noise before. Of course it eventually failed also. But the right engine is perfectly smooth and quiet.
Anyone had this?
