I fly a 140 and recently discovered I have a alternator failure. It started as a high pitch squeal through the radio and after a month the squeal stopped and and a annoying ticking sound comes through the radio. The ammeter dropped to nothing even with it all loaded up. Has anyone removed the alternator? Does the prop have to be removed? I noticed a lot of cowlings have to come off. Thanks a lot.
