A couple of friends who are ham radio enthusiasts are setting up a system to track planes directly from broadcast information. I told them about how well the web site Flight Aware works but they want to do it themselves. They want to know why two radio frequencies are involved. 1090 mhz and 978 mhz. I haven't a clue.
Any info will be appreciated.
