The student was on his third supervised solo at the local airport in his Colt that he purchased about 6 months ago. The evening winds came up, gusting to about 25 mph at a full ninety degrees to the runway.

Lifted the upwind wing and loaded the opposite gear, tire deflated, rim broke and the result is shown here.

No insurance, repairable but will cost some AMU's ( $$$ ) he does not have.

FAA said get it off the runway and send in a written report...

I am glad I was not the instructor...
