There is a brand new SB out on Slick 4 cyl mags. You are supposed to remove any new ones from 2008 to 2016... or any OH between those dates and check the distributor gear. I have always said they were cheesy and the copper electrode on them was prone to fail and why you want to inspect them every 500 hours...
Anyway. Champion has owned up to the fact they are bad and want them out of the skies... The part is offered free but labor is not included. It is a hassle to get the part free too. A Kelly replacement is about $80. Champion tried to sell it as an assembly called distributor block for $323. They now offer just the gear free if you go through a series of ridiculous requirements and I do not know the normal cost...
The parts will be hard to get anywhere for a while because Kelly has bought all Slick has and theirs too to "recall" all the mags they have OH recently. Their OH mags may have new Slick parts or quite frankly may have used serviceable Slick parts in them. They just recently (this year) released their FAA/PMA gear so not too many out there yet. They released them at Sun n Fun.
