My IO-360-C1C6 200hp engine was overhauled in 1981 and it has about 1500 hours since then and only about 110 hours since top overhaul (4 new cylinders installed in 2017). Compressions are 75+, it burns about a quart every 18 hours, no metal in filter or oil screen, no oil leaks, runs lean of peak on with 0.2gph GAMI spread, engine data regularly uploaded to Savvy and shows no signs of issues.. all hoses and other consumables are of course new. Performs at book values or better..

Low end (core, excluding cylinders), prop governor, fuel servo are 36 years old. I have absolutely no reason to overhaul except for the age of the core. Would you bite the bullet and overhaul this perfectly running engine only because of its age?
