I am planning on replacing the windows in my 1977 Archer. I was thinking about getting 3/16" thickness all around, but the feedback from Great Lakes Aero was that Archers with this serial number range had 1/4" windshields and 1/8" side windows from the factory. I checked the POH and didn't see any reference to the thickness of the windows. Is there an easy way to tell what I've got besides taking off the OAT probe and measuring the thickness? Any significant downside to just getting 3/16" windshields?
