Funny and yes, very often true. They do tend to react a little differently when you both make about the same amount of money and have a pre-nup.According to what I've learned from friends who are divorced, you are not quite right in that statement since the courts seem to view it as "she has both".
As a practicing Physician her total salary is pretty close to my airline salary only working 3 days a week, not including my side business and the pre-nup was her idea (as I was making a measly $90k a year vs her $240k a year a decade ago when we got together).
We don't mix anything - we don't have a single credit card or bank account together. The only thing we co-own is the houses for ease of survivor purposes should something happen to one of us. Otherwise we don't talk about money much at all except to decide what house upgrade to pursue next.
