The deadline for submitting comments to the EPA related to the forced obsolescence of 100 LL fuel is midnight Eastern time, today, Friday, August 27th, 2010.

100 LL is going away and its replacement, if there is any, may require de-rating your engine's performance and operating parameters, costly engine modifications, or complete engine replacement, depending on the compatibility of the 100 LL replacement fuel, if there is one, with your 100LL-dependent engine.

The expectation that the rule-making process that will set the timeline and pre-requisites for the demise of 100 LL will take into consideration the interests of affected aircraft owners and users without a vocal outcry to do so is naive. Users of 100 LL must speak out on this.

Here's what you can do to influence the process to minimize the adverse impact on your flying that will result from the inevitable unavailability of 100 LL:

August 27, 2010

Good afternoon Piper Owner,

This is a reminder that the comment period for expressing concern about the EPA Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to eliminate lead in aviation fuel ends 27 August at midnight. If you have any plans to send a letter and have put it off, please do it now. If you have decided not to do so, please reconsider. We need your voice. And, of course, if you have already done so – thanks for your help!!

Once again, a suggested letter can be accessed at:

http://www.100octaneformyplane.com/uplo ... _Final.doc

It is a Word file which you can modify as you see fit, or use as is. All that is needed is an outside address {yours} and a signature – electronic is fine for email. These letters can also be submitted anonymously if that’s your preference. The addressing instructions are:

Submit your comments, identified by Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2007-0294, by one of the following methods:

1. http://www.regulations.gov: Follow the on-line instructions for submitting comments.
2. E-mail: [email protected].
3. Fax: (202) 566-9744.
4. Mail: Environmental Protection Agency, Mail Code: 6102T, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave., NW., Washington, DC 20460.

Please include two copies.

Thanks for doing this.

Sincerely,

The Clean 100 Octane Coalition
