    First post/question

I have a 140 /180.. and when applying the Bold Warrior STC, it required a new air speed indicator, that was the same as the one used in 180's. so I purchased a new True Airspeed Indicator from MidContinent Instruments in So Cal. #8100-B.154. They added the airspeed markings to match the STC...

    B787 "TECHNICAL EVENT'

Back in the day, working on the MD-11 assembly line, there was an aircraft, cant remember if it was a DC-10 or an MD-11, that was above 30k over water, that had an uncommanded Slat deployment.. that caused some "damage" to those inside the plane. dropped to about 10k before getting the plane...

Challenger (K&N) Airfilter - is it worth the expense?

I still have the same K&N filter... washed it about 8 times since posting before, and it just keeps working. No additional expense over those 4 years other than time and degreaser as I still have the same can of filter oil.... Will keep using it!...

In need of an Arm Rest

So it was made known yesterday that when closing the door in a cold aircraft, maybe 20ish deg F, that the 57 year old plastic arm rest when pulled on may not have the strength that is once had. The center section snapped off... so with the engine having been properly pre-heated, and the door...

    Safety wiring procedures

Safety wiring is an art.... one that I still do not do well, even after 50 years at it!.. So my A&P and I have an agreement... He lets me work on my airplane, but NO Safety wiring!... He then checks my work, and applies the safety wire.... that way he know he has checked it, and I know he...

    Grounding your aircraft while fueling

I have always found this interesting, cars / trucks are on rubber tires, and not "grounded" when filling the tank... same as our aircraft... they move through the air, and just like stated, moving in and out of the vehicle can generate static electricity... so way not "ground" them the same as...

Source for Saratoga Outer Fuel Cell Bladder Replacement or Repair

The company that I work for builds the MQ-9 aircraft... we use bladders in the fuselage and wings, and find that there are always issues with them.... switching across manufactures and all about the same. When we designed and built the external fuel pods, manufacturing pushed hard for a wet...

    Winterization plate.

I use Gorilla Duct Tape, Black color... matches the rest of the baffling area.... sticks well.... I think the 180 B model had the same cowling as the 140.. Oil Cooler up front??.. I added a "high pressure Stall Fence" above the cooler to add high pressure to the face, and that helped add...
