Painting or (preferably) Film Laminating my 1964 Piper Cherokee 180

It is an engraved invitation to corrosion. The US Navy looked at it and rejected it. But it is your airplane.

    Atlantic Canada

St Pierre and Miquelon is on my bucket list. I have always wanted to go there. Will the hang glider make it?

    Update to Proposed Spar AD

I am thinking that it you do the inspection before the AD is issued, you will have to redo the inspection. I don't think that you can post date inspections.

    Update to Proposed Spar AD

One of my concerns is a false indication. EC of a hole is far from a perfect inspection but it is the least bad.

    3-blade props

I have a 3-blade Hartzell. It looks cool and it removes an RPM restriction, but It is not worth the $14K that it cost the previous owner. IMO. I have thought about swapping with the 2 blade scimitar but not worth the $ to me.

    Arrow 3 availability

When I was looking, I wanted an Arrow III. After a year looking, I gave up trying to find a nice one at a reasonable price. I found a 1975 Arrow II that fits the bill. In some ways the Arrow II is better (faster) and the fuel capacity is not that big of a deal. A fuel totalizer give me great...

    New Member NJ

If you go the PA-28, unless you are really money tight find one with a 180 HP and newer than 1972 for the larger rear set room. It will cost a little more now but will likely pay dividends down the road. A Challenger would make a good compromise between the cheaper 180 Cherokee and the more...

Rental rates for your own aircraft

I have a rental agreement with a local pilot. Some call our arrangement a non-equity partnership. He recently sold his plane of a similar type to get a sailboat, but still wanted access to an aircraft. Fair enough. First go over this with the insurance guy, as there a subtleties in how the...

Looking for advise regarding Port Hawkesbury (Cape Breton Island)

I have been to Saint John and Halifax but never Cape Breton. The recent comments in SkyVector about CYPD were not positive wrt small GA.

Looking for advise regarding Port Hawkesbury (Cape Breton Island)

Hoping that things open up by mid-summer. Planning a trip to Maine and am thinking of an overnight diversion to Cape Breton Island. I always wanted to see the Bras d'or lakes. It appears that Port Hawkesbury and Sydney are the main (only?) public airports on the island. This would be my first...

High oil pressure - would you do anything?

Another data point. Recently installed a EI CGR-30P. Checked the unit against a calibrated gauge and was spot on. My oil pressure goes to 108 on takeoff and settles down to about 70 in cruise. My AI produced a Lycoming document that said OP over 100 psi for takeoff is ok fine.

    WTB - Tomahawk

I trained in one. Spun it. Thought they were fine. Good visibility. Have you heard how they compare to a Beech Skipper? :D

    Electric Boost pump for Arrow

The Weldon pump p/n 67881-05. They seem quite expensive Has anyone ever had one fail on them?

    Air/Oil Separator - worth it?

Yes, so long as you don't overfill. I have one and it keeps the bottom of my plane clean.

Meh, for me, I think upgrading the old autopilot is more important. I can wait.
