Landing Height System is now FAA Certified for all Pipers

I've not seen one of these yet. Very interesting concept. It's pretty easy to run power from the battery to the wing in my Comanche. I might look into one of these as the ability to connect to the BT on the audio panel means not having to pin a wire.

Anyone own or owned a Cessna or Beechcraft?

I've considered that a Cessna turbo 182 fixed gear may be in my far away for now future with the two doors and ease of access. Getting up on the Comanche wing without a step and getting into the cockpit isn't going to get any easier!

The best part about calling Webco is that you don’t need to know part numbers for routine items!!!

    Gear Bungee

Webco is the go-to for anything Comanche related. They support the fleet, so I support them. As others have said, it’s an 8097 bungee. I change mine every year as well as the main gear springs, part number 487-347 as suggested in the Service Manual. With Matt being gone now, Webco is the only...

    That's my thoughts as well.

    PSI of manifold line

Yeah, I've got the aluminum tubing coming off the cylinder port and an unidentifiable piece of rubber hose (which is probably original and dryrotted) for vibration dampening before the copper line which penetrates the firewall and on to the MP gauge.

Anyone know what the max psi (or range) of the manifold line is on an O-540 Lycoming?

DA-50RG - or the new Arrow

I've looked MANY times at going from my current 250 Comanche which cruises at a consistent 150-155kts and 13-15gph to something faster. To make the jump to even 200kts is such a massive jump economically that unless you can write off the expense for business or I become wealthy, it just doesn't...

    Turbo twin operators up high

When I decide to finally upgrade from my Comanche 250, I'll most likely go with a turbo'd twin Comanche. The Comanche wing loves the higher altitudes and with the aftermarket mods available (including Hans' mods) a turbo twin Comanche is super efficient and fast.

    Heating your engine

I know that as you heat the sump (bottom) in an aircraft engine the metal pieces try to reach thermal equilibrium, aka as the 2nd law of thermodynamics. So, in this case, the heat does in fact rise if you heat from the sump which is why we use cowl plugs, blankets over the cowl, and some like...

    Heating your engine

Heating the oil directly will radiate the heat into the entirety of the oil sump pan effectively doing the same thing as a sump pad heater as a coffee cup instantly heats up when you pour hot coffee in it. I’ve also had two sump pad heaters fail and they are pain to install if the lower cowling...

    Purpose of Cowling Port?

That is directly below the oil breather tube and probably installed to facilitate the oil being spit out to exit the cowling at that point. However, that "port" attached to the cowling is not factory and is unnecessary as any oil coming out of the breather exits the cowling opening before it...

    Washing engine

The use of water to wash planes and engines (which occurs infrequently) as a cause of corrosion would render any and all planes tied down outside unairworthy. Especially those in climates where it rains frequently.
