Yeah, NBC has no political viewpoints

Imagine if that guy donated to the republicans...

They'd not only kneel during football games, they'd probably lay on their backs too

Jim, a lot of people have been credited with that quote but my guess is that it's much like the one I used which can best be called a "traditional".

First known credit was to Heinlein, I think.

I recall hearing it when I was a kid and I'm certain the guy saying it had never read Heinlein's books. Both my mother and father had many such expressions that stated a truth in a quaint sort of way, my mother's all came from her mother who had immigrated from Scotland and my father's came from Germany. There have been thousands of such "old sayings" that generally say a lot in a few colorful words. Reading the endless stuff by Kristin et al, I figured that one about the dirty pig seemed to fit well.

I don't doubt that in the least. Many of Robert's sayings and terms made it into general use.
Waldos, grok, and waterbed come to mind. Though Robert popularized TANSTAAFL, Jerry Pournelle's grandfather actually originated that one.

Glad to hear that. His widow was my dearest friend and appointed me to the Board of a Foundation that owns some of his copyrights (a gift from her). I think they hung the Moon.

The portrait of them was a gift to me from the Artist Kelly Freas. It hangs in the Heinlein Reading Room at the Library in his childhood hometown.

I've always thought so.
BTW, I did the frontispiece for the Trade Edition of Robert's 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress'.
