This actually happened to me on my first time out by myself with the plane. I thought "just my luck...first time out and I don't have 3 greens", but it was weird cause I heard and felt the gear come down.

For some reason I decided to turn the nav or panel lights off and voilŠ.

I did some more troubleshooting today. The bulb is definitely intermittent. If I put the right or left main bulb on the nose gear position, I get the light back on when it's off with the appropriate nose gear light in that position.

I'm getting the LEDs linked by Sanjiv which btw say they're dimmable.

Thanks all.

I hated that the Nav lights were tied to the 3 green dimmer. I'm a Nav light on all the time type of guy, especially now with LED's. So 10 years ago at our last panel makeover I had them change that dimmer from the Nav lights to the panel lights. Much better!

LuisO - Please read my post on "Gear down & Locked Indicator Light Socket". You had mentioned troubleshooting the receptacle or lamp socket. In my post I caution you where to place the ohmmeter or voltmeter probes as the internal contacts are isolated from the outer shell of the socket. You can find the Dialight socket using PN: 183-9830-14604 at either mouser.com or newark.com for less than half of Piper pricing.

No I didnít order any but was just researching. I am sure the annunciation panel lights in my dakota are reverse polarity.
