Only one in MA got removed from the list of six to be closed and KBAF will stay open, they have a small amount of military operations out of the airport and was surprised it was on the first list and have 150+ operations a day, compared to my home ap KORH 131 operations a day. As GM pointed out if there is an accident will be interesting the finger pointing in the White House, unfortunately thats the only way probably we will see some Towers reopened in this country.

I am pretty upset that they are closing the Athens Tower here in Georgia. It was just a short distance from my home base, making it perfect for students to get towered landings without having to fly long distances. Also, that place is a madhouse on game day weekend, not sure how they can handle the traffic without a tower….

A good unicom attendant can function much like a tower.

Honestly, I don't expect any of these to actually happen. Figure the news media gets 2 or 3 weeks to harp on how unsafe it will be with the worst examples, then a budget deal will be struck and nothing changes.

If I had to bet on what happens, that's what I'd bet on.

It is all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

The last paragraph says it all. The White House objective is maximum pain, not minimum disruption. Everybody saw through the cancellation of White House tours. Maybe the tower closings will blow up on them too.

The Texas DOT just announced that it will fund the 13 airports set to have the towers closed in the state.

Good job TX, I would be sorely inconvenienced by not being able to clip the DFW Bravo on my climb .
